GHost is a visual arts and creative research project by artist Sarah Sparkes which explores the nature of ghosts both metaphorically and practically in its activities. The project takes its title from a work by Marcel Duchamp:
“A GUEST + A HOST = A GHOST” Marcel Duchamp (1953).
A new GHost art work, ‘The GHost Formula’ by Sarah Sparkes, will be part of the exhibition ‘No Such Thing As Gravity’ at FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology), curated by Rob La Frenais. It will feature a ghost inducing robot, a ghost research area and two specially created ‘ghost tunnels’ linking FACT and Williamson Tunnels Heritage Centre.
As part of this ghost research project, The GHost Portal website will be collecting local Liverpool ghost stories. You can submit your own stories here. Stories will then be archived at The Museum of Liverpool.
The GHost Portal will also be publishing links to artists and groups who are interested in ghosts. You can submit your links here.
The GHost Portal is new commission by Sarah Sparkes for FACT with National Lottery funding through Arts Council England. The project is supported by Williamson Tunnels Heritage Centre and National Museum of Liverpool.
No Such Thing As Gravity runs at FACT from 11th November 2016 – Feb 6th 2017.
